The magic of the everyday moves me…the magnificence of the ordinary. Colours, textures, moments in time and light. When something resonates with me I am compelled to go further, using my camera to explore.
Portraits are my passion… for me, the definition extends beyond the human face. My style is that of a collector. I tend to collect many pieces, then return at a later date for further exploration and development. I have a very intuitive approach.
As I work, I use every tool in the box available to me that suits…I love alternative processes, that can be as simple as toning a print, to cross-processing a negative, to scanning a negative and using Photoshop as a darkroom. All aspects about photography have great value to me.
As my relationship with photography has evolved over time, I find myself developing a practice that involves montaging. This can be achieved by either sandwiching negatives, or layering. The layering can be with different images or with itself. As I tend to be organic in approach, I try not to overthink my process, just follow it intuitively.
I am a girl… a Québecker, an adopted Bluenoser. I am interested in cultures, and how people identify with their heritages. I have lived in and love the city, have lived in and loved the country and crave both. I have always been interested in anything creative: music, singing, cooking, painting, writing. I have a connection to all those things, but for some reason, photography became my passion, my voice. It is what I engage in on most days, all day, and has been my intense focus for more than 10 years.
