Kate MacLeod
Kate MacLeod’s evocative portraits explore the ordinary, unconscious moments of sensory pleasure associated with simply being in one’s physical body. These moments accumulate to encapsulate, and to at least partly define, the larger experience of life in the material world as a whole. Love, hate, sorrow, happiness. Beauty, thought, art, nature, music. We consume all things, concrete or intangible, through small gestures and the unceasing fluidity of facial expression.
Kate MacLeod graduated from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design in 2001. Her images appear to briefly illuminate and narrate the lives of her subjects within intimate, often familiar situations and settings. She lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
