Archival pigment ink prints.
The images in this portfolio were taken between 2005 and 2009 in Uganda, Ghana, India, China, and Mexico. Many were done to help promote the efforts of non-profit agencies working in those countries, which included Oxfam America, The World Food Program, Save the Children, FINCAan international microfinancing organizationand Vatsalya, a small charity which houses and educates street children from Jaipur, India.
I was privileged to be welcomed into the worlds of the people in these photographs, and I hope that viewers also feel it a gift to be able to glimpse these lives that are in so many ways rather different from our own.
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 7, 2010, 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

Mariėtte Roodenburg - Time Marks
Seven years ago, upon my arrival in Nova Scotia, I started working on two series of photographs, both taken on the south shore. The first series, titled First Impression, was a series of landscape images; the second, Waves, was a series of ocean images. Last winter curious about the impact of living in Nova Scotia for an extended period of time on my way of seeing this coastal area I set about making a new series of ocean and landscape images of the south shore, marking the time as it were.
Time Marks is the result of revisiting many of the places that have been featured in the first two series. The project developed into a series of images that are single-mindedly focused on the extraordinary colour of light in the Nova Scotia landscape. All images of Time Marks are taken on the south shore in the winter 2009-2010.
Intrigued by the outcome, I intend to "mark time" again, seven years from now.
Opening Reception: Saturday, August 7, 2010, 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
